Over the course of the past three days we have seen a significant high load in requests to access the wp-login.php file on WordPress based websites. So significantly, that it actually processed over 12,000 requests for the wp-login.php page on one of our web servers in a one-hour period. These requests are coming from IP addresses all over the world making it hard to manage the blocking of these invalid requests that put our users installations of WordPress at risk and utilize a high amount of resources on our network.
To clarify for those not familiar with it, the wp-login.php page is the back-end administration page that gives WordPress users access to the settings and full control of their WordPress installation.

We’ve all been there before, you’re browsing around on the net clicking on links like a hummingbird and all of the sudden there’s an error… “Page cannot be displayed”, “Internal Server Error”, or “Page Not Found”. Just a big ugly white page with black text mocking you. Without even thinking about it you click the back button and move on to another site, just like every other person on the internet. As a web visitor, this isn’t a big deal since you’ll find the information you’re looking for on another site. However, as a website owner you just lost some of your web traffic.
A lot has been happening at Weberz in recent months. We’ve been busy expanding our hosting services and making changes to enhance our customer’s hosting experience. This month we’ll share some of those changes with you and provide some insight to some of the other future changes to come.
Since Weberz has both virtual private servers, VPS, and dedicated servers available, many customers are asking “which is the best choice for my needs?”. This question is usually best answered on a case by case basis after evaluating what the customer will be hosting. However, there are a few key differences between VPS hosting and dedicated server hosting that could make the decision easier. Let’s take a look at these differences and determine the best use for each type of server.
Last week we released new Dedicated Server plans with Plesk and IPv6, so this week we are announcing Linux based virtual servers! That’s right, Weberz now has Linux based virtual server hosting available for those looking for that perfect solution between shared hosting and a dedicated server.
The agreements have been signed, the testing has been completed, and the website is updated… Weberz dedicated servers are now available with the Parallels Plesk control panel system! This marks the first time that Weberz dedicated server hosting plans have been available with a stand alone control panel interface.

Many of our web hosting users are using Google Analytics, Webalizer, and Awstats to monitor their website performs and statistics. A few weeks ago Google made some changes to their services and made these stats slightly less useful. Lately many website owners, Weberz included, have been seeing “(not provided)” or “Unknown” for the keyword visitors used to find their website in the Google search results.
Weberz is pleased to announce the release of version 1.1 of our WordPress Comment Link Manager plugin. The update is primarily a clean up of our code in the plugin, however that has solved a number of issues that users have had with the plugin not working.
