People often ask our support representatives what the best solution is for uploading files to their website. Over the years the staff at Weberz have tried various FTP clients with varying levels of success. After discovering FileZilla we quickly rolled it out to all of our staff members.

FileZilla is an open source and is platform independent so it’s available on Windows, OS X and Linux. You can find it at filezilla-project.org. It supports both the FTP and SFTP protocols. The team behind FileZilla is also very active so updates and bugfixes are delivered on a regular basis.

Late last week we made some changes to our domain name servers to eliminate some issues that certain resellers were having resolving some of their server alias names. During the process of rebuilding these servers we also moved the NS3 server to a new IP address at an offsite location. This will allow DNS lookups to continue resolving in the event of a data center wide outage helping eliminate extended downtimes due to bad DNS resolutions during the outage. Many of our resellers are web designers who host their design clients under their reseller account. This tends to work great for both the client and the designer. The client doesn’t need to spend time finding a reliable hosting company to use and the designer gets to access all of the clients files to be able to better serve the client.
