Spam Policy
Weberz Hosting has a zero tolerance policy for any spam related activities. This spam policy protects our customers, Weberz Hosting, and the internet community from the negative effects of spam. Weberz defines spam as any unsolicited bulk or commercial email that is sent to an address that does not have positive and verifiable request for such material from that specific sender.
Spam Policies
- Any user of bandwidth or services on the Weberz network (herein described as “users”) are prohibited from sending spam. Users may be asked to produce records that verify that explicit affirmative permission was obtained from a recipient before a mailing was sent. Weberz may consider any lack of such proof as a confirmation that spam messages were sent.
- Network users are prohibited from maintaining open mail relays on their servers. Ignorance of the presence or operation of an open mail relay will not be considered an acceptable excuse for its (the open mail relay) operation. If found users will be asked to immediately close any such open relay and failure to do so will result in account termination.
- Users will be notified in the event that they may be hosting sites listed as violators of the above policy. Again, failure to rectify such situations may be cause for termination.
- Weberz customers are prohibited from providing hosting services for websites that have been included in spam messages. Hosting includes, but is not limited to, hosting websites, providing DNS services, or offering website redirection services.
- Valid complaints received by Weberz will be forwarded to customer for a response and resolution. If within twenty-four (24) hours there is no response, Weberz may block traffic to and from the IP address involved in the spam complaint until the problem is resolved and preventative measures have been implemented to prevent the violation from recurring. Failure to receive any such forwarded complaint will not excuse the lack of response. Weberz customers are required by the Terms of Service to maintain complete and accurate contact records on their accounts.
- If Weberz receives repeat complaints indicating that a problem has not been resolved, Weberz reserves the right to suspend or cancel services provided to the user without further notification.
Email List Best Practices
We understand that some of users of the Weberz Hosting network have a need to operate email mailing lists as part of their website or services. Such a task can be very complicated to do without being flagged as spam. Here are some tips to consider if operating such a email list:
- Force users to confirm email list subscriptions. Never assume that the user filling out a form on a website is enough verification. Send a confirmation email to the user and require them to visit your website and opt-in again to be added to the list. Do this BEFORE sending them any other emails from the list.
- Ensure you have CLEAR and working unsubscribe links in EVERY email that gets sent to your email list.
- Never force users to confirm a unsubscription from a email list.
- Never purchase a list of email addresses from any 3rd party.
- Keep good records of when a user confirmed their subscription to your email list.
- Clearly mark in the subject line who is sending the email. For example Weberz might use “[Weberz Newsletter]” in the subject line of every email sent.
Weberz is fairly strict on our mailing list policies. We always suggest that users who want to run an email list do it on servers hosted somewhere else. There are plenty of email list hosting providers who specialize in dealing with email lists and spam complaints. A simple Google Search can find you many options.
