How do I setup an email alias?

In H-Sphere, the Weberz Hosting control panel, there are two options for setting up email aliases in the control panel. Both options perform the exact same function they are just designed to be used at different times.

Mail Alias
The mail alias section is designed to setup the email resource you are editing as a email alias for another mailbox. Such as if you were creating a new mail resource called “fred”, or editing an existing mail resource named “fred”, and wanted to send all of the email sent to fred@yourdomain.com to another mailbox on your domain. To setup a email alias using the “Mail Alias” section perform the following steps:

1. Check the check box next to where it says “Mail Alias”
2. In the box labeled “Choose from existing mailboxes” click the mailbox name you want to have “fred” be an alias for.
3. Click the button labeled “Add >>” to move the mailbox to the list on the right.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to alias the “fred@” resource to multiple mailboxes.
5. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page to save.

Alias By
The “Alias By” option performs the same function as the “Mail Alias” option above, but allows you to setup the email alias when creating your mailbox. An example of using this feature would be if you wanted to create a new mailbox called “fred” but wanted the “fred” user to also get the email for “sales”, “support”, and “sally”.  To do this in one easy step you would create the email aliases for “sales”, “support”, and “sally” using the Alias By option when creating fred’s mailbox. 

To do this simply enter these names separated by spaces or commas in the Alias By box when creating Fred’s mailbox.
