I received a email saying I am unable to relay. What do I do?

If you received an email saying you were unable to relay through the Weberz Hosting email servers then there is a problem with your email client configuration. The bounced email error message contains the following text:

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
‘someone@thisdomain.com’ on 2/7/2005 11:03 AM
553 sorry, that domain isn’t allowed to be relayed thru this MTA

(#5.7.1)

If you have recieved this email that means your email client is not setup to do SMTP authentication. Using SMTP Authentication allows your email client to send your email login details to the outgoing email server when you try to send email. On all of the Weberz Hosting email servers this is a requirement to be able to send email.

To correct the problem you will need to modify the settings in your email client to turn on outbound SMTP authentication. Many times you will find this in the advanced properties of your email account configuration on your computer. It can be labeled by any of the following names:

  • My Outgoing Server Required Authentication
  • SMTP Auth
  • Login to My Outgoing Server Before Sending Mail
  • Login Required
  • SMTP Authentication

The additional settings for this option should match the same settings as your incoming mail server. Using your full email address as the username and your standard email password should allow your email to be sent through the Weberz Hosting email servers.

The email you sent to receive this bounce back message will need to be sent again as it was rejected the first time you tried.
